It’s week 4 of the One Room Challenge, hosted by Linda over at callingithome.com and we’ve been making some big progress this week. We’re really excited to show you the color that went up on our walls this week!
To say the last two weeks have been hectic would be a gross understatement. We had a complete system crash and we’ve been 2 weeks without our computer (or any of our data). We’re still working on recovering what we can but for now, we’re pushing forward with some new systems in place and it’s time for an update on our luxury master bedroom make-over.
We’ve partnered up with Phillips & Chestnut for our painting projects in the challenge and we got to experience Fusion mineral paint for the first time. I have to admit, I was a little nervous about the color that our designer Lori picked out – Midnight Blue. The space is so small and we were worried that a dark, saturated color like that would make it feel even smaller but…
SURPRISE! It actually makes the room feel much more grand and we love it. The mineral paint comes in small, 500ml containers and their tag line is “Foundation to finish all in one”. Big claims right? The Fusion paint is apparently known for fantastic coverage and a luxurious matte finish. It’s also zero VOC water-based paint which was great for us because the room has very little ventilation.
Originally, we were going to paint the back wall (with the window) but at the last minute I decided to make our lives a little more difficult and paint the wall with the exposed ductwork. Shout out to my oh-so-tollerant husband for putting his long limbs to use and awkwardly reaching those hard to get spots. What a good sport! The wall is 11’x10′ (so 110 square feet) and we brought home 4 jars of paint. Each jar says it covers 75 square feet. Well, let’s test that theory shall we!
Since the walls were nearly white before our first coat, we assumed we’d need at least 3 coats but we were pleasantly surprised after our second coat went on and we saw the beautiful, full coverage finish! We were liberal with the paint, knowing that we had more than we likely needed and still, we only used 2 of our 4 jars to finish the entire wall. 2 coats, 2 jars, 110 square feet. Fusion delivers on it’s promise and we are stoked about the results.
We’re also obsessed with the super sexy, matte finish. The paint actually feels a bit like wall paper which gives it that really high end appearance that we are going for!
We can’t thank Phillips & Chestnut enough for patterning up with us on this project and providing all of our paint as well as a full milk painting workshop for me to learn the skills I need to complete these projects! As always, all opinions and photos are our own.
